Professional License Defense Lawyers

The Spodek Law Group is a premier law firm, that provides an aggressive legal approach to defend the rights of licensed professionals in the state of New York. If your profession requires a license in order to for professional work to be done, there is a great deal at stake – when you are facing accusations of professional misconduct, criminal charges, or accusations of any kind.

If you have a license, and are accused of misconduct, you should be aware that accusations, or charges or professional misconduct, or a misdemeanor or felony, can result in your license being suspended or revoked. It means you could be put out of work!

Professional License Defense Lawyers

If you’re a licensed professional, it requires you to adhere to a set of responsibilities, in addition to forcing you to adhere to conduct and obligations to follow accepted standards. Failure to perform, according to the requirements, is considered a professional misconduct, and when proven, results in disciplinary action. Any disciplinary inquiry, even if it’s without merit, must be dealt with seriously.

The Spodek Law Group can help

Regardless of what type of professional license you have, we can help. The conduct of doctors, doctors of osteopathy, physician assistants, nurses, architects, and more, are regulated by the state authorities. For example, the conduct of medical professionals is regulated by the Office of Professional Medical Conduct.

Most other professions in New York, are regulated by the NY State Office of the Professions. For many professions, the OPD investigates, prosecutes, and handles all allegations of professional misconduct.

Professional misconduct cases begin with an investigation by OPD. Investigators will send you a letter, or ask for a call, to discuss the allegations. Often, an investigator will cold call you and attempt to discuss an ethically questionable situation with you. Regardless of how they do it, you shouldn’t speak to OPD without an attorney. You have the right to legal representation, and it’s important to have an attorney at the very beginning of the legal investigation. The Spodek Law Group is here to protect our clients during an investigation, and before, an investigator has had a chance to build a case against you.

Once the investigation is done, formal charges might be recommended by the investigator to the Board. If the Board accepts the recommendation, formal charges are initiated, and the matter is submitted to the OPD prosecutor. These prosecutors are attorneys who are specialists in creating a case to present to the Board. Prior to the hearing, it’s possible to reach a resolution.

Once the charges are brought, you critically need a professional to negotiate for you. As a licensed professional, you only have one chance to earn, and retain, your professional license. Don’t go it alone, hire a professional attorney to help you.
