April 5, 2022 CT

Connecticut casinos offer plenty of opportunities to have fun and hopefully win a lot of money. While you can create some great memories, casinos can also bring experiences that you would rather forget. A good example is getting arrested at a casino after overindulging in too much alcohol or simply partying too hard.

If a night out or weekend getaway at the casino results in you getting arrested, you should contact a Connecticut casino arrest lawyer to help you fight the charges. Common charges that you could face from either Tribal or Connecticut police include:

• Disorderly Conduct
• Breach of Peace
• Interference with Police
• Resisting Arrest
• Possession of Narcotics or Cocaine
• Patronizing Prostitution

At all costs, you want to avoid a situation where you violate both tribal laws and state criminal laws. Therefore, if you find yourself arrested, contact our law offices as soon as possible. We will work to get all charges dismissed without the endurance of repetitive and unnecessary criminal court appearances.

Charges and Consequences for Breach of Peace, Disorderly Conduct, Interference with Police and/or Resisting Arrest

Participating in a vibrant nightlife may not lend itself to the most relaxing experience of your life. When crowds of people converge into one location, it could equal a recipe of disturbances and fights. A minor altercation such as two strangers bumping into each other in a casino can quickly escalate to something that brings the police on the scene.

Being one of the people arrested could lead to charges of Breach of Peach, Disorderly Conduct or both. Adding to an already bad situation getting worse is a charge of Resisting Arrest. One charge is bad, but adding more charges can make this a very trying and difficult situation for you.

If you are also charged with Interference with Police, you are facing a Class A misdemeanor, which is the most serious of misdemeanor charges. Punishment for a conviction can be up to one year in jail, paying a fine as much as $2,000 and maybe getting probation. Assaulting a Police Officer is considered a felony and comes with three months in a state prison, a $500 fine and probation.

Charges and Consequences for Drug Possession, Including Intent to Sell

Unfortunately, drug and narcotics possession arrests happen quite often at casinos in Connecticut. Police officers are on the lookout for any activity of drug possession crimes, whether cocaine or other illegal substances. In one night of partying with drugs and narcotics can lead to an arrest and numerous court appearances, stiff fines and mandatory jail sentences for anyone caught with significant amounts of:

• Oxycontin
• Cocaine
• Molly
• Other narcotics

Even if you are not the drug dealer, you can get arrested by Tribal Police and be charged with Possession with Intent to Sell based on the amount of any of the above listed drugs that you may have in your possession.

Being convicted of a first offense for narcotics possession is considered a felony. Punishment for a conviction is up to five years in jail. You may also receive fines as little as $2,000 an as much as $5,000, plus probation. The second offense comes with a 10-year jail sentence.

Connecticut also has severe penalties for felony possession of narcotics and hallucinogens with the intent to sell. If convicted, you could face up to 15 years and a $50,000 fine for the first offense. On the second conviction, you face a $100,000 fine and 30 years in jail. Additional convictions come with additional 30-year terms and $250,000 in fines.

Other narcotics have a penalties that are slightly less harsh. A first offense conviction for felony possession with intent to sell requires up to seven years in jail and $25,000 in fines. Subsequent convictions hold a $100,000 fine and a maximum 15 year prison sentence.

Charge and Consequences for Patronizing Prostitution

Arrests for patronizing prostitution are not limited to casinos. Massage parlors, hotel raids and even Internet escort and dating websites can end with a person in handcuffs. Violating Connecticut law by purchasing or even offering to purchase sexual services carries its own set of penalties that require assistance from a skilled attorney.

This is considered a Class A misdemeanor charge. Laws in the state of Connecticut require fines of up to $2,000, probation and up to one year in jail.
