The BEST LAWYER ANYONE COULD ASK FOR!!! Todd changed our lives! He’s not JUST a lawyer representing us for a case. Todd and his office have become Family. When we entered his office in August of 2022, we entered with such anxiety, uncertainty, and so much stress. Honestly we were very lost. My husband and I felt alone. How could a lawyer who didn’t know us, know our family, know our background represents us, When this could change our lives for the next 5-7years that my husband was facing in Federal jail. By the time our free consultation was over with Todd, we left his office at ease. All our questions were answered and we had a sense of relief.

Colorado DEA Defense Lawyers

Colorado DEA Defense Lawyers

2.7 million pills seized in Colorado – record broken. DEA Special Agent Jonathan Pullen called it “an unfortunate record to set.” Maybe you’re part of the April 2025 bust that seized 800,000 fentanyl pills and uncovered an interstate network stretching from Colorado to New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, and Mexico. Maybe you’re one of the defendants from the Colorado Springs operation where federal agents executed nine undercover transactions before dropping the hammer. Or maybe DEA agents just raided your home in Denver, Aurora, or Colorado Springs. Thanks for visiting Spodek Law Group – a second generation law firm with over 50 years of combined experience. Our managing partner, Todd Spodek, has many, many years of experience defending federal drug cases across the country, including cases in Colorado’s federal district. Todd has represented clients in high-profile cases covered by NY Post, Newsweek, Fox 5, and other major outlets – including Anna Delvey and juror misconduct allegations in the Ghislaine Maxwell trial. Rocky Mountain Field Division seized 2.7 million fentanyl pills in 2024 alone. Carfentanil – 100 times stronger than fentanyl – now appearing in Colorado. Five out of ten pills contain a fatal dose. RIGHT NOW.

Federal Drug Charges in Colorado

Colorado broke its own record – 2.7 million fentanyl pills seized in 2024, surpassing 2023’s 2.61 million. Jonathan Pullen’s agents work “day in, day out fighting the cartels.” June 2024 alone, three operations netted 570,000 fake fentanyl pills in one week. The April 2025 bust revealed the scope – 800,000 pills traced directly to the Sinaloa Cartel. Unlike other law firms who are more focused on their relationship with prosecutors and judges, Spodek Law Group focuses on protecting you from catastrophic federal sentences.

Federal mandatory minimum sentences don’t care about Colorado’s progressive drug laws. You think Colorado’s marijuana legalization helps? Recent criminal justice reforms? They don’t. Under 21 U.S.C. § 841(b), federal law controls. Forty grams of fentanyl mixture triggers a five-year mandatory minimum. Four hundred grams means ten years mandatory. Death resulting from distribution? Twenty years minimum, life maximum. DEA lab testing reveals five out of ten pills contain a potentially fatal dose – two milligrams is all it takes. The January 2024 Colorado Springs operation shows how this works: nine undercover transactions led to federal conspiracy charges for methamphetamine, fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine distribution. Over four kilograms of heroin seized from a single Pueblo residence. Many, many defendants don’t understand that Colorado state courts might offer diversion programs, but federal court offers mandatory minimums.

The Rocky Mountain Field Division covers Colorado, Montana, Utah, and Wyoming – multi-state coordination is automatic. Interstate 25 runs north-south through Denver, connecting Mexico to Montana. Interstate 70 runs east-west, linking Utah to Kansas. Every major trafficking case involves these corridors. The District of Colorado maintains aggressive prosecution standards while federal defenders are overwhelmed with caseloads. The April 2025 network stretched across four states with direct cartel connections. Each defendant faces different mandatory minimums based on drug weight, prior records, and cooperation levels. Many, many people arrested in Denver, Aurora, or Colorado Springs don’t realize their case automatically goes federal when drugs cross state lines or involve cartel connections.

What Triggers Federal DEA Charges in Colorado

Any drugs moving on I-25 or I-70 trigger federal jurisdiction. Denver serves as a distribution hub for the entire Rocky Mountain region. Drugs coming north from New Mexico, west from Utah, south from Wyoming, or east from Kansas – all federal cases. The April 2025 bust proved this when investigators traced the network through New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, and into Mexico. Container loads through Denver International Airport, packages via FedEx, UPS, or USPS, distribution from Colorado dispensaries diverted out of state – all federal territory.

Every single fentanyl case in Colorado traces back to two cartels – Sinaloa or Jalisco New Generation (CJNG). DEA agents confirmed this pattern for 100% of 2024 cases. The cartels control distribution from Mexico through established networks in Aurora, Commerce City, and Denver. The April 2025 operation revealed Sinaloa Cartel members coordinating shipments of 800,000 pills through Colorado to distribution points in Utah and New Mexico. Federal RICO charges often follow, conspiracy charges add ten years. Many, many people caught in these operations think they’re just local dealers until they learn their supplier’s supplier connects to cartel leadership – triggering federal conspiracy charges that make them equally liable for the entire operation’s drug weight.

Now there’s carfentanil – an elephant tranquilizer 100 times more potent than fentanyl. DEA seized over 250,000 pills containing carfentanil in Colorado. First responders need multiple Narcan doses just to survive exposure. One grain can kill. People ask the wrong questions: Can these charges be dropped? What about Colorado’s drug court? The state’s recent sentencing reforms? Federal court doesn’t recognize Colorado’s reforms. Safety valve provisions under 18 U.S.C. § 3553(f) require no violence, no priors, no leadership role, and complete cooperation – rare in multi-defendant cartel cases.

Your Defense Timeline Against Colorado DEA Charges

Can federal drug charges be dropped in Colorado? Almost never. The District of Colorado rarely grants pre-trial diversion for drug trafficking. Deferred prosecution agreements are reserved for first-time offenders with minimal roles. Your real options: cooperation for reduced sentences, safety valve if you qualify, or trial with a 95% conviction rate. Unlike other law firms who promise miracles based on Colorado’s state reforms, Spodek Law Group tells you the truth – federal charges require aggressive federal defense strategies from day one.

Your timeline is already against you. That June 2024 operation that seized 570,000 pills? Months of surveillance preceded those arrests. Wiretaps on phones, financial records subpoenaed, cooperating defendants wearing wires. The April 2025 network investigation started in 2023 – two years of building evidence before arrests. By the time DEA agents knock on your door, they have months or years of evidence. Every day you wait, more co-defendants flip for better deals. The first to cooperate gets the best sentence reduction. We are available 24/7 because federal agents don’t wait for business hours – they execute warrants at dawn, on weekends, during family gatherings.

Todd Spodek is a second-generation attorney who understands federal drug defense nationwide. He’s handled cases involving the Rocky Mountain Field Division’s aggressive tactics. Many, many defendants hire Colorado attorneys who only know state court – but federal court requires different strategies, different relationships, different expertise. Multi-state investigations involving Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Arizona require attorneys who understand how districts coordinate, how federal sentencing guidelines apply, and how to navigate the complex world of federal mandatory minimums. The District of Colorado’s judges follow strict sentencing guidelines. Your attorney needs to know each judge’s history, each prosecutor’s tactics, each possible defense angle. Risk-free consultation while 2.7 million pills flood Colorado streets, while carfentanil replaces fentanyl, while cartels control distribution.
