Florida’s Drug Trafficking Laws
Under Section 893.135 of the Florida Statutes, drug trafficking is defined as knowingly selling, purchasing, manufacturing, delivering, or bringing into Florida, or being in actual constructive possession of more than 25 pounds of cannabis or 300 or more cannabis plants. This offense is considered a felony of the first degree and carries severe penalties.
Additional trafficking charges include:

As you can see, the penalties for drug trafficking can be severe, and a conviction can significantly impact your life.
Penalties for Drug Crimes
The state of Florida has some of the strictest drug laws and penalties in the country. If you are caught with illegal drugs, the consequences can be severe. For instance, possession of over 20 grams of marijuana or other illegal drugs such as cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, or meth, is considered a felony and carries a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Possession of more than 10 grams of heroin is considered a first-degree felony and is punishable by a sentence of 30 years in prison and a fine of $10,000. In addition, if a defendant is found with drug-related paraphernalia or chemicals used to manufacture drugs, it is an additional offense punishable by a maximum sentence of 1 year in jail and a fine of $1,000.
